Over recent weeks Red Tree PR has been working to help launch a campaign which aims to bring our famous Banksy artwork, AKA ‘Hula Girl’ back to Nottingham. Following its purchase by an art dealer in February and subsequent removal from Nottingham, we were approached by campaign founder Mike Horseman who asked if we could use our PR skills to help raise awareness of the cause which ultimately aims to crowdfund enough money to bring the work back the city where Banksy wanted it to be.
This iconic piece became a symbol of freedom for the local communities during a tough lockdown, and many people in Nottingham, ourselves included, were outraged when it left the city under the cover of darkness in February.
Teamed with Mike, we have been working hard to promote the petition https://www.change.org/p/nottingham-city-council-bring-the-banksy-back-to-notts and appeal to the people to help protect and treasure Hula Girl for generations to come.
This campaign has sparked up a lot of regional interest so far, as we have been able to secure televised, radio and print coverage from BBC Radio Nottingham, East Midlands Today, ITV News Central and Nottingham Post to name a few.
This campaign is making great progress with over 1,000 signatures and Nottingham city centres famous Victoria Centre backing the return, offering to host Hula-Girl for all visitors to enjoy during their shopping trips.
